Bug Description

After final release of Ubuntu 9.04 I can no more enable desktop effects. I was able to do so in development version.
After update to final release, compiz just shut down (and took gnome-do panel with it, because it requires composite). When I try to reenable, it is looking for suitable drivers, screen blinks end error message "Desktop effects could not be enabled" is shown.
I have Dell Studio 1535 laptop and Intel X3100 video card. I made no modifications to xorg.conf.

Compiz was deliberately disabled on your particular video chipset due to crashes being caused. You can track this in bug report 363821.

I think it is a "conflict situation", because I just run
`gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager false`
and `compiz --replace` worked!
