Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

this is what was saying the dialog box:

W:Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dists/jaunty/Release Unable to find expected entry universe/binary-i386/Packages in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?)
, E:Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Thanks for oyur bugreport.

Could you please attach /var/log/dist-upgrade/* ? After that, please remove (or disable) the line that contains archive.canonical.com and try again.
