Bot doesn't respond if alternate IRC nick used

Bug Description

If the bot's IRC nick is already in use it uses "botname_", but doesn't
respond when addressed as that. This can be fixed by either
adding "$botname_" to the default list of names, or by modifying that setting
once the assigned nick is known, or by stripping trailing underscores when
checking if the bot is being addressed.

Checking for $botname_ or stripping underscores is flippen ridiculous - it's a special case for a convention, as far as I can tell. The desired behaviour for any bot is that it answers to its actual nick, and to anything else that the owner has configured ("bot", "ant", "oy you", etc). Can the bot tell what its own nick is?
