This is constantly occurring for me. I cannot manually reproduce it as it occurs randomly. Not all of my settings are lost (perhaps it is going back to default, but I cannot discern which settings were default and which were my customizations).

Extra Visual Effects remain enabled, yet Compiz settings are lost and it requires that I reload my saved settings. This occurs at
least once a week

Ubuntu 9.10 (x64)

It seems that Compiz only losses settings related to Rotate Cube and Desktop Cube, I 've never lost any of my other settings.

I can confirm this. Using CCSM 0.8.2 on Kubuntu 9.10/KDE 4.3.3, even just ticking the checkbox to enable Desktop Cube (and disable Desktop Wall) will simply unset itself in front of my eyes within seconds. This is incredibly frustrating.

After some observation it appears that everything is being reset to default settings - Snapping Windows gets turned back on, Desktop Size is reset, etc.

Er... a restart fixed it. Sorry about that, should have tried that first. FWIW, the problem occurred immediately after installation.

It hasn't occurred since I'm running Karmic now, and I have a ATI XFX Radeon 4350 HD card now.
