Bug Description
Binary package hint: compiz
In Ubuntu 8.10 (GNOME 2.24.1):
In the default panel configuration, i.e. : Panel with GNOME Menubar at top, panel with window list at the bottom, open any menu in the menubar, say "places" or "Applications". Now while this menu is still open, move the mouse pointer to the bottom panel and place it on a window name in the window list. The thumbnail preview appears at the top of the screen. That is, the x-coordinate is the same, but the thumbnail is at the top of the screen instead of the bottom.
I have an nvidia card and this happens with all recent drivers released in the last year.
This is the standard compiz version that ships with intrepid.

Confirmed on karmic, it has something to do with the top panel counting as a dock to the thumbnail plugin too then the pointer grab the menu does messes with it.
