Bug Description

get rid of the tags column in the data table
use the tags to table to fetch the tags

forward tags as an array and operate over an array to improve the filtering etc
no need for whitespaces!

+ Add drag&drop to remove tags
+ Make edit tags from right click more self explanatory

+ Explain that comma means separator

+ The input field is too small vertically
+ The tag buttons are not clearly buttons unless you hover them
+ The tag buttons are too big vertically

+ Export the Tagging UI outside Data class

Is that a point to be added to this meta bug? If so, you can add it to a new bug report, and dupe it + add it to the description.
If you want me to take of that, just let me know.

Take on it!
If you are familiar with glade try designing a tagging dialog
I think we need to be able to remove and and tags by not typing

Changed alot in the logic to stop using tags as string
this just has to be changed in the zeitgeist_gui/zeitgeist_base class more or less in the editor!

Here it is a tag editor, it's a little program which take a list and you can add & remove rows( each row represents a tag) of that list, you can rename the tag too.
It is only prototype but it can be extended, it isn't connected with gzg yet.

I'm waiting for any suggestion, opinion or complain xD

Note: im a newbie and thats my first work using pygtk :P

I don't quite understand the scope of this bug. It is both about a UI redesign, but also about "fixing" the engine?

It's mainly about the UI, but I guess it should be split into several bugs for the particular issues.

By the way, the engine is now being handled as https://launchpad.net/zeitgeist (well, the transition is still in process, may take one or two weeks to complete as I have exams right now).

It would have been better if the change to https://launchpad.net/zeitgeist was documented somewhere online, but I'll go through and clean up the infrastructure wherever I can.

Based on phone/irc/email discussions (correct me if I misunderstood):
Gnome-Zeitgeist (this project) will be changed to Zeitgeist-GUI.
Zeitgeist (https://launchpad.net/zeitgeist) will be changed to Zeitgeist-Engine.

I'll also try to update the relevant launchpad teams and webpages.

The GNOME Zeitgeist project for creating a GUI is now called GNOME Activity Journal, and yesterday we released the first version of it. Tagging is not yet implemented there, so I am closing this bug as it is no longer relevant.
