Bug Description

If I run totem 2.26.1 on ubuntu 9.04 by double click a file, and then try to go to fullscreen totem closes with out any error being reported back to the end user. I have twinview turned on using a nvidia card with the latest nvidia drivers. If however I turn twinview off everything works fine. I can use VLC to play video full screen, however and I think this might help located the problem. If under preferences on VLC i select Video/Output modules and leave it as default I get exactly the same symptoms as in totem. If i change the videooutput module to X11 Video output, the problem goes away. This appears to happen on all video formats, WMV, AVI, DVD... etc.

I hope you can fix this bug, I've been having this problem since 7.10 but always assumed it would get fixed.

Hi there

Its a nvidia GeForce 6600 GT, and I'm using the Ubuntu restricted nvidia
driver called "NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 180)
[Recommended].

I will do a backtrace later and upload that for more info.
I have managed to work around the problem (sort of but the performance
drops a lot) I did it by running gstreamer-properties from terminal and
then under Video selecting the X Window System (No Xv) option. This
resolves the problem but the video becomes very sluggish if I'm doing
any other process... So I still think there is an underlying issue.

Regards

Dan

Hmmm, since I added the totem debug symbols I can't get it to play anything.
I don't think the backtrace work correctly either.

If I can be of more help please let me know, if you need or want to remote into my computer you are welcome to.

do you get the issue using the nvidia opensource driver or not using the desktop effects option?

This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under natty, please tag the bug 'natty'
so it's easier for us to track.

Hi there I can confirm that it all work well now. Although I have upgraded my computer along with the graphics card. But I no longer have the issue. Thanks for all your help.
