Bug Description

I installed jaunty today and everything was going fine, until I installed some updates. After reboot my compositing is gone. Gnome-Do displays this message "Your display is not properly configured for theme and animation support. To use these features, you must enable compositing."
I can't also re-enable compiz effects. It was all working fine out-of-the-box before the update.

I think some of the updates were compiz-related. How can I enable compositing back?
I'm on a Dell Inspiron 1525. My graphic card is Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c).

Update: After launching fusion-icon and "Reload Window Manager", my compositing is back until I reboot and it's gone again.

Thanks.

This is the output of "compiz -c" from the terminal:
amr@gort:~$ compiz -c
Checking for Xgl: not present.
xset q doesn't reveal the location of the log file. Using fallback /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Blacklisted PCIID '8086:2a02' found
aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/metacity

and this is my xorg.conf file:

Section "Monitor"
 Identifier "Configured Monitor"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
 Identifier "Default Screen"
 Monitor "Configured Monitor"
 Device "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

Section "Device"
 Identifier "Configured Video Device"
 Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"
EndSection

Section "ServerFlags"
 Option "DontZap" "False"
EndSection

Disabling Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy" doesn't make any difference.

There's a workaround to this problem, and you're halfway there by using the fusion-icon app, but it needs to be launched each time you log in.

Go to system -> Preferences -> Startup Applications / Sessions

Click add

name: fusion-icon
command: fusion-icon

Then click add again and restart X.

The only problem is that metacity will start for a brief moment when you log in, before compiz takes over, and it can look a little untidy and bouncy for a minute.

I think it is a "conflict situation", because I just run
`gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager false`
and `compiz --replace` worked!
