On upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04RC1
Network manager in panel shows a wireless icon (on wired device) and cannot be removed from panel
the Info menu item brings us "Error displaying active connections: No Valid Active Connections" (though eth0 is connected)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release the Karmic Koala.
