Bug Description
installed 9.04, 2.6.28-
Asus WL-167g adapter using rt73usb module.
System goes to hard freeze after 1-2 minutes adapter plugged in. All usb ports are partially powered down, keyboard in not responding.
Nothing wrong is recorded to logs. Syslog is in the attachment and there is no dmesg log of the time adapter was plugged in.
Situation does not occur when using adapter under 9.04 RC live system.
This is another recidivation of rt73usb module malfunction, it blocked sudo and caused other strange malfunctions on Hardy, kernel panic on some kernel versions on Intrepid, and now - total freeze on Jaunty.
As previous situations were more or less resolved, I think this is time for new bugreport and deeper analysis of this malfunctioning and dangerous module.
Update: looks like faulty module is in the linux-backports

I have the same problem with the rt61pci driver. I've also tried manually compiling some of the more recent the compat-wireless packages and it still happens (the ones after 2009-13-04 do not compile so i don't know if it has been resolved). The ath5k from both backports and compat-wireless is working fine so i think the problem is only in the ralink drivers. There are no logs or anything - the system just freezes after a few minutes even if there is no network load.
