Bug Description
I was advised to file a separate bug (from bug #338221) for the specifically problematic Finnish translations in current netbook-launcher, in order to consider them as an SRU for jaunty.
The especially problematic strings in fi.po (Finnish) are:
English: "Home"
current translation: "Alkuun"
what the current translation means:"to the beginning"
suggested translation: "Koti"
what the suggested translation means:"Home", and also the "Home" in "Home Folder" in which context it's visibly used in netbook-launcher ("Home Folder" at http://
English: "Places"
current translation: "Paikat"
what the current translation means: "places", but too literally, and not in line with what's used in GNOME
suggested translation: "Sijainnit"
what the suggest translation means: "places", in line with what's used in GNOME ("Places" at http://
English: "Suosikkisovell
current translation: "Suosikkisovell
what the current translation means: same as above
suggested translation: "Suosikkisovell
what the suggested translation means: same as above
One way to fix these strings would be to accept my bzr merge request of a branch:
https:/
In addition to these fixes, it:
- synchronizes the shutdown dialog's translations with what are used in GNOME (they are similar for the suspend/
- uses terminology for "options" from what has been agreed upon at lokalisointi.org and Finnish GNOME Translators (http://
- uses translation for "Quit..." which has traditionally been used in eg. Ubuntu Quit... menu item (https:/
- change "Change Desktop Backround" translation to imperative (similar to nautilus http://
- changes word ordering in Choose Favorite Icon
- fixes one white space which can be easily seen
