Bug Description

My wireless key from my house was still in my /etc/network/interfaces even after
I tried to reconfigure it at my friends house with his key and AP. The key would
not go away even after deleting all information from the WEP Key field in the
Netorking configuration tool. The Network Configuration tool did not clear my
key even after i deleted everything from the field and hit ok. I had to manually
edit /etc/network/interfaces and remove and add the wanted info.

Which wireless configuration tool did you use, network-manager or the standard
gnome one?

Thanks for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use. Have your other changes
been applied? That works fine for me. Do you use different profiles?

I did not use different profiles but I do now and everything seems to work. When
this happened I just happened to bring my laptop over to my friends, connect to
the wireless network and everything would be peachy. But I couldn't delete the
key out of the WEP Key: field because he didn't have any security on his router.
So I secured his router, tried to type in the key and nothing worked. So then I
finally remembered the /etc/network/interfaces file and went in there, deleted
the old key that I usually use at my house and typed in his and it worked
perfectly. I don't know what caused the key to not be able to be removed but now
that I use different profiles everything seems to work now.

Closing this that works fine now. Feel free to reopen if that happens again.
