Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Found in 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3 (jaunty)

Highlighted menu items are rendered invisible in OpenOffice.org (all document types). When scrolling through a menu from top to bottom, most menu items except sub-menu headings will be blanked out. See attached screen shot. 100 % reproducible.

This appears to be an nvidia driver issue. It seems similar to the older issue that caused OOo menus to not appear but may not actually be the same issue.

Yes, it looks like an nvidia driver issue - I removed the non-free driver and got the menu items back.

Hi autark,

Thanks for including an image to demonstrate the issue. Could you also please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log or Xorg.0.log.old file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

I opened OpenOffice just now to reproduce the bug, and was surprised to see the menus working. So at least, it's no longer 100 % reproducible.

On opening OO-Calc a second time I got the disappearing behavior back, although only on the currently highlighted item; after scrolling the last highlighted item was redrawn.

I've posted a new version of the -nvidia driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?
