Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

Hi

On Apr 15 2009 in Jaunty (Ubuntu 9.04) following packages were upgraded:

empathy (2.26.0.1-0ubuntu1) to 2.26.1-1ubuntu1
libempathy-common (2.26.0.1-0ubuntu1) to 2.26.1-1ubuntu1
libempathy-gtk-common (2.26.0.1-0ubuntu1) to 2.26.1-1ubuntu1
libempathy-gtk19 (2.26.0.1-0ubuntu1) to 2.26.1-1ubuntu1
libempathy23 (2.26.0.1-0ubuntu1) to 2.26.1-1ubuntu1

and later same day more packages were upgraded; given below:

Upgraded the following packages:
libmissioncontrol-client0 (4.67-1) to 4.67-1ubuntu1
libmissioncontrol-server1 (4.67-1) to 4.67-1ubuntu1
telepathy-mission-control (4.67-1) to 4.67-1ubuntu1

After the update If I call a google talk user for a voice call, it disconnects immediately after connecting.

Earlier I was able to use empathy to talk to Google talk users but now I cannot talk as it is not able to connect.

I can use text chat but not voice chat.

Pl do let me know if any more information is required.

I'm not sure that it's related but empathy disconnect and autoreconnect every 6 minutes to my jabber server.
I use jaunty with same package except than I added PPA for telepathy.

Same problem here. I've attached the debug output that is generated when attempting a google talk voice call. There is a warning followed by an error:

Thanks for the report, may you please try the same with the empathy version from the telepathy PPA? https://edge.launchpad.net/~telepathy/+archive/ppa . please do it and tell us if there's any better results with it, thanks.

Hi, I'm using the latest version of empathy from the PPA (2.27.2-1ubuntu1~ppa9.04+1) and I'm getting the exact same results. I've attached the full empathy log showing a failed gtalk voice call. Let me know if there's anymore info you want me to provide. Thanks.

The call can't establish a P2P connection. That's probably because of a firewall/NAT error on your side or the one of the remote contact.

Empathy should display a more informative message: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=575763

I can contact to the remote client using windows so the I guess the problem must be on my side. Is there any information out there about configuring firewall/NAT for use with empathy and gabble? I haven't been able to find anything through google. Thanks

I'm running Karmic now with empathy 2.28.2-1ubuntu1. I hadn't tried this in a while so I just did a quick test. When I try to call out it manages to connect but then disconnects within about 5 seconds. Incoming calls don't connect at all. I've attached the log file.

Ignore my last comment. I've done some more tests trying to make a video call to a friend running Vista. Outgoing calls seem to work every time but answering incoming calls sometimes causes empathy to crash with a segmentation fault. I've attached the empathy log from one of these crashes.
