Bug Description

On my Dell 1501 laptop running a fresh install of xubuntu 9.04 beta my /etc/fstab is blank. I have checked with other people and a lot of them have reported the same problem so its not just me.

dustin@laptop:~$ cat /etc/fstab
dustin@laptop:~$

I am not sure but I think before you can do sudo touch /forcefsk and get an fsck on reboot it needs the /etc/fstab file to do so, so I would consider this a problem.

This definitely shouldn't happen, but we need logs from you in order to make even an educated guess at the problem. Please attach /var/log/installer/syslog and /var/log/installer/partman to this bug.

Just curious, is this something that is going to cause me to have to reinstall or can it be fixed via an update or patch? I don't know how to build an fstab from scratch. I was hoping I could just update to official release and not have to reinstall.

This is the first time I noticed it or I would have said something sooner but my swap space is 0 bytes and that is not the way I chose to make it.

I just wanted to add that I wiped my drive clean and installed the release candidate with the ext4 file system and I now have an fstab and everything seems to be working fine.
