contacts - address - partner_id does not get saved

it is possible to select a partner in the functions/address section but after save the field is empty.

Hello Ferdinand,
The partner field is related to address.
So, once you add Address, you can have choices to put a partner.

May be we can plan for 3 ways:
1. Related field : onchange should work automatiacally.
2. Seeting attrs on address(make it required if partner id selected)
3. Making address_id compulsory.

your suggestion please.

Usability issue - obviously

Variant A) Select Partner
make address_id mandatory
* one address -> copy this one into the address_id
* multiple address -> open select window

Variant B) Select Address
* partner_id exists -> copy partner into partner_id.
** IMHO do not allow to change partner !! (because the partner and other contacts depending on it must not be altered HERE.
* no partner_id
** allow selecting a partner (obviously)

Please counter check if this is correct.

I just had a long session trying to explain how this works "in real live".
The partner-address-contact concept needs a very good explanation and as much as possible support for the user.
This because most users are (only) familiar with EMail style addressbooks where usually a mixture of contacts and organizations can be found in the name field and sometimes organizations in the company field.

I found it particularly difficult to explain that a contact can/must be also a partner, because only the partner object can be used in OpenERP for main business process
