when one connection fails and other is created, link-monitor-applet does not notice

Bug Description

I am connected through a wifi connection. It suddenly stops working (that is due to my wireless card losing signal and requiring restarting to regain the signal, but that is beside the point) and link-monitor-applet notices it and shows dead pings. So I plug in an ethernet cable (that is connected to the AP I was previously connected via wifi) - network starts working, but link-monitor-applet does not notice. When I turn off the wifi, it notices the network is actually up.

The problem lies in one connection (that previously worked) not working (but not turned of) while simultaneously other working connection exists.

Actually, this happens on wired network as well. I'm using it on a flakey connection to see when it goes down. When there is a connection loss, the applet never recovers. I have to restart the applet or machine to get it to show stats on the connection after it goes down.
