Bug Description
This bug is the results of running this test case
Debian-Installer Encrypted LVM Drive
Case ID: del-001
Since this is done with debian-installer the only logs
available in /var/log are
partman and syslog and i have attached both
in the errorlogs file.
This bug is similar to 360587
in that it wants to rewrite the rewrite the swap on sdb2
and drive sda was the only one chosen to have partitioning changes made to it.
Installer asks
Write the changes to disks and configure LVM
if you answer yes
partitioner goes away for a bit, flashes a few screens
then displays the
'Unsafe swap space detected' window and asks you to
disable the swap space, using swapoff, or configure an
encrypted swap space .....
This message is talking about the swap space on sdb (the second drive)
which was not selected to have any changes made to it.
If i get to a console and turn the swapoff on /dev/sdb2 so it is not
even shown in the Installer list (and /proc/swaps is empty) the Installer
somehow rereads the partition table on sdb and continues to give
the unsafe swap space message and you just loop around and around.

The fact that the partitioner wants to rewrite the partition table is bug 360844.
However, there's a separate part to this bug that AFAIK hasn't been dealt with elsewhere. Normally, the partitioner automatically uses any swap it can find, and this is generally a convenient thing for it to do. In the case of an encrypted setup, though, automatically using unencrypted swap causes an error which you have to resolve using the manual partitioner. It would be better to silently un-use unencrypted swap partitions in this case.
