Bug Description

Binary package hint: plasma-widget-network-manager

Using the Network Manager Plasma widget in Kubuntu Jaunty, it is impossible to automatically connect to 5gHz wireless networks. It will connect to them just fine when you ask it to, but it will not connect after you boot the computer or resume from suspend. This applies for both 802.11a and 802.11n networks. It also applies to a recent SVN revision of the widget.

I can confirm this bug. Using Dell Latitude E6400 with 5300AGN.
But there is a second Problem, which maybe can help us to understand, why "automatically connect" does not work.

If i configure a new 5ghz connection, the networkmanager connects fast&fine. If i reboot and try to use this connection again, it takes several seconds until "connecting ..." appears and there is now noticeable action like this "rotating circle" in the plasmoid. Nothing happens.
This only happens with 5ghz network-connections. But my one is a 5Ghz one ;)

I would like to present logs, just say, which you need.

Im made some logs in different situations.
The first is to connect the very first time. deleted all networkconnections in the Network manager widget and in kdewallet.
--> Connection was successful

The second try was after standby.
--> Connection unsuccessfull.
The widget symbol has rotated.
Connecting to ... was shown imediately
Later i noticed, that an window popped up in background, which asked for the wlan-key.

The third try was after reboot.
--> Connection unsuccessfull
after clicking on the shown wlan:
whole system (plasma? halted.
connecting to ... message appears 3-5 seconds
No rotating circle was shown in the widget.

I should be able to test this tomorrow evening. I am at college right now, and there are no 5gHz networks here.

I am experiencing the same thing. I would test but the latest update has made it impossible to connect to *any* wireless network of any flavor automatically or manually (bug #416041). So, once that is rectified, I would love to help with this :)

That could be caused by the old network configuration not working with the newer knetworkmanager, and should be solvable by removing the connection and re-adding it.

If this still turns out to be a problem, please attach a syslog of the connection attempt as well.
