Bug Description

Binary package hint: konqueror

I installed the 9.04 beta on top of a 8.10 installation. After the installation in Konqueror's task bar the search applet does not work for google. It states: "Protocol not supported"

I have exactly the same problem, but with Kubuntu 9.04 final (not beta), installed with the standard upgrade procedure from 8.10.

The search applet does not work for google and it is impossible to add other engines (the dialog has no effect).

Easy workaround to solve the problem: in the search engines selection dialog, disable web shortcuts, apply your change, then enable web shortcuts and apply.

The problem is probably due to a change in the format of the config file, rewriting the file solves it.

Does this still happen in KDE 4.2 or 4.3?
