Konversation on Jaunty has no sound

Bug Description

Binary package hint: konversation

Konversation on Jaunty (1.1-1ubuntu2) will not play any sound, so I don't hear people's pings any more. Is this because the old kde artsd is no longer being installed? (Using Quassel is not an option until it fixes some critical issues for me)

Yes, the KDE3 sound system (aRts) has been removed from Jaunty since it is completely unmaintained.

So there's no prospect at all of getting sound?

Konversation is shipped in "main"; for it not to have sound is a serious
regression so I don't really agree with the "Won't fix".
