Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

Pidgin crashed when I closed the 'Mail window'. This might be the same as bug #121617.

Pidgin very often crashes like this from the 'Mail window' when I close it or click on a button or list entry in it to try to open the mail in Firefox.

Here's a backtrace. Ironically, after crashing several times a day, once running from gdb it took several days for it to crash again.

An anecdotal observation is that when it crashes, pidgin seems to be confused about the actual number of messages. For instance, this morning it said I had 17 new messages - many of which seemed to be repeats in the list it showed me - when I actually only had a couple.

Is it fixed but not yet in the Ubuntu repositories? I've got pidgin 1:2.5.5-1ubuntu8 and it crashed again today, just like before.
