Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When invoking the Gnome panel logout dialog by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del (default "Logout" action keyboard shortcut), it does *not* actually offer the option to only "log out" and end the session.

The available options are:
* Turn off computer
* Restart computer
* Suspend
* Hibernate

The only way to log out is by accessing fast user switch applet and selecting logout from there.

That's not related to gnome-panel. That dialog is the gnome-session dialog, and is an upstream design decision to have separate dialogs for shutdown/restart/hibernate/suspend and log out/switch user

affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) → gnome-session (Ubuntu)
Changed in gnome-session (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

Yes, sorry, the dialog belongs to gnome-session.

I'd like to point out a minor inconsistency with this change:
When configuring keyboard shortcuts using gnome-keybinding-properties, the associated action for Ctrl+Alt+Del is labeled "Logout". This is no longer true, since this action does not offer the option to log out. It should be renamed to something else, like "Shutdown". I'll report this as a new bug.
