External and Internal Mics not working on Acer Aspire 5315-2153

Bug Description

I cannot use any mic with this computer, the output sound works fine. I have tried all the sound options and I get a constant low frequency with the internal mic when trying to record. With an external mic headset plugged in I get a sidetone through the headset (strange) yet it will not work in skype.

Hi Paul,

Can you execute the following command 'apport-collect -p alsa-base 359640' in a terminal? This will automatically gather sound debugging information from your system and attach it here to your bug report. Can you also comment this this had worked with any previous kernel versions? If so, which version? Thanks in advance.

I installed the packages it requested, but then it just gives me this error:

I have the same problem here.

Acer Aspire 5315, jaunty ubuntu desktop 32 bit, clear installation

I also tried the "options snd-hda-intel model=acer" and
"options snd-hda-intel model=acer-aspire" module options without any success.

I can execute the 'apport-collect -p alsa-base 359640' still today.

Regards,

suvlaj
