Bug Description
Binary package hint: cups
Jaunty Beta recognised my HP Laserjet 1200 immediately, "plug'n play" seemed to work. It even did some printing, but this was _very_ slow (not more than a page per minute for normal OpenOffice text-only documents), and fonts were broken (see attached scan). That printer's name is "HP-Laserjet-1200", Make and Model: "HP LaserJet 1200 Foomatic/pxlmono (recommended)".
I tried two remedies, out of which only number 1 worked:
1) I simply added a new printer through System - Administration - Printing - New, then clicking OK twice or three times. This one's called "HP-Laserjet-
2) I added a new printer and pointed it to the pxlmono ppd I downloaded from http://
My conclusion: pxlmono seems to be broken for Laserjet 1200. Therefore, it should be fixed, or it should not be the standard option.
Additional test: I removed all printers and plugged it in again... some seconds later it was ready for printing with hpijs 3.9.2, quick and clean. Maybe this issue has already been fixed since the original Jaunty Beta?
