Invalid e-tag when using mod_deflate

Bug Description
Binary package hint: apache2
When using mod_deflate apache sends invalid e-tags to the client. This breaks use of the if-none-match tag, because apache doesn't recognize its own e-tag and resends the file instead of sending a "304 Not modfied"
Tags look like this: Etag: "2106e9-
pay close attention to the quotes..

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, all packages up-to-date including the latest apache:
