Bug Description

When watching videos in totem or smplayer whenever the controls are displayed the desktop image appears for a half second. There is also a slight flicker when the controls disappear but it is too fast to tell wether it is the desktop image or not. This also happens when exiting fullscreen flash. With compiz effects turned off this doesn't happen.

Here too on a TwinView setup. No change upgrading to the 185 beta drivers (nVidia).

I tried a suggestion from the forums that fixed it (and seems to be fixing it for everyone else):

"Please go to CCSM, general options and uncheck "unredirect fullscreen windows". Then see if it still happens."

Worked like a charm. Now the question is, what does disabling that screw up? :-)

Above fix works for me. It should be noted that it's not just videos, but any full screen application, including Firefox. If you press ctrl+s to bring up the save dialog the background flickers. Also alt+tabbing when there is a full screen application results in lots of flickering.

This also seems to be a duplicate of an old bug
