Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

As soon as I try to add the networkmanager plasmoid to the desktop plasma crashes, the screen stays blank for a short while and then the desktop reappears again. This bug occurs independently of the method used to add the plasmoid. It is always reproducible.

At least the bugs 346763, 325763, 327052 seem to report the same problem, but are all marked invalid due to the retrace-bot being unable to retrace the stacktrace.

Are you using the networkmanager plasmoid packages from Jonathan Riddell's PPA? They are known to cause a crash just like this.

I've used the kubuntu-experimental overlay before I upgraded to jaunty one month ago. And it seems there was still a stale package 'network-manager-kde' installed that caused the crash. I uninstalled this package and installed 'plasma-widget-network-manager'. The applet starts now without crashing plasma.

Thanks for pointing in the right direction - I hope this helps other people who run into the same problem.
