Please give the exact version numbers of both the good and bad packages you tested.

Also, are you familiar with bisection? To find the bug it will be necessary to do this to isolate which patch caused the failure.

After installing
dpkg -i libgl1-mesa-dri_7.3-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb libgl1-mesa-glx_7.3-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb
blender works fine.

on other computer libgl1-mesa-dri_7.3-1ubuntu4_i386.deb and libgl1-mesa-glx_7.3-1ubuntu4_i386.deb are also working fine, but now I can not find them on the mirrors to check

I checked again, problem disappears after replacing only one file /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so to i915_dri.so from package libgl1-mesa-dri_7.3-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb

I have the same problem with an i965 chipset and all OGRE3D applications. Switching back to libgl1-mesa-dri_7.3-1ubuntu4_i386.deb causes the problem to go away.

I checked again, problem disappears after replacing only one file /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so to i915_dri.so from package libgl1-mesa-dri_7.3-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb

As I run an i386 computer, search for the

libgl1-mesa-dri_7.3-1ubuntu3_i386.deb

an fixed the problem. I think that my video card is an i915, so:

unpack the file
copy all the files in ~/libgl1-mesa-dri_7.3-1ubuntu3_i386/usr/lib/dri to /usr/lib/dri as root

And now I'm Happy Blending !
