Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdeedu

Kmplot version: 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu1

SVG export worked perfectly in KDE 3.5 version of Kmplot, but now it doesn't. The bounding box is much larger than the plot area, function graphs extends beyond plot area. Moreover, now plots have much more complicated structure so it is not easy to correct the exported SVG file. For this reason SVG export is close to being useless and my only solution for the problem is to stick with 3.5 version of the software.

I attach a screenshot of an SVG file opened in the Inkscape.

Easy enough to reproduce

Testcase:
* Create => Cortesian Plot
* Function => y = x^2
* File -> Export -> test.svg
* Open test.svg with inkscape

This issues needs to be forwarded to KDE's bug tracker http://bugs.kde.org

Is this still an issue for you with Karmic's kmplot 4:4.3.2-0ubuntu1 ? What about with kmplot 4:4.3.5-0ubuntu1~karmic1 from karmic-backports ? What about with Lucid's kmplot 4:4.4.2-0ubuntu2 ?

Hi,

Since I have already migrated to Lucid I don't know about Karmic, but
the issue is not fixed in Lucid's kmplot 4:4.4.2
(see the attachment). The issue is easy to reproduce - just plot x^2,
save as .svg and open in Inkscape.

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. But don't worry! This issue is being tracked by the KDE developers at: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=190860
Once fixed in KDE, it will be included in Kubuntu once the KDE version the fix is in in reaches Kubuntu.

Thanks!
