Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

Hi,

In Jaunty 9.04, Amarok (2:2.0.2mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu1) doesn't build the music collection on my laptop.

If I run amarok --debug in the terminal, I get the messages I included below, when it tries to load the SQL plugin collection.

I understand that the issue can have 2 origins:
- it's a dependency problem, there is a mysql package missing or the version of the mysql package provided isn't compatible. In my case, I have the libmysqlclient15-dev, libmysqlclient15off installed (as well as mysql-server-5.1 and mysql-client-5.1). I read on several websites that these packages were required but it doesn't seem to me that the ubuntu package AmaroK requires them.
- it's a bug in Amarok. FYI, the second error reported in the output pasted below indicates that AmaroK finds one of my personal MySQL database (mx_development), I am not sure where the "na" comes from though.

Thanks and let me know if further information is required,
-- François

Thanks for the update, François. But there's an even newer version of Amarok out now, 2.1, which has a lot of issues resolved [1]. Can you please try it out and let me know how things go? Please report back with the version of Amarok you're using (''apt-cache policy amarok'') and whatever error messages you get.

Thanks!

Andrew, please don't ask people to us a PPA when there is an official backport in the jaunty-backports repository since quite a few weeks...

Amarok 2.1.1 is available in jaunty-backports

Hi - Since this bug report, I changed my hard drive and installed 9.04 from scratch. I am not affected by this bug anymore, it then seems that it was caused by a problem in the upgrade process from AmaroK 1.4 to AmaroK 2.

Glad to hear it looks like it's taken care of now! I'm closing the bug then.

Oh, and just so you know, the project decided to drop the capitalized K at the end and now the name of the program is just Amarok. See http://amarok.kde.org/
