Bug Description
I am trying to install Dapper Flight 5. The initial menu shows up just fine. When I choose to install to the hard drive, the basic loading vmlinuz and initrd.gz, then goes to a text screen that says "Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel." Then it just stays there forever.
I have also tried using the other options and setting a "vga=771" command like I had to do for Breezy. With that option, I never get the "Uncompressing Linux..." screen. The screen just goes blank.
I have also tried changing the resolution size, but still only get blank screens.
Now for the tech details.
I have a Toshiba Satellite M45-S165 laptop. It has an integrated ATI Radeon XPress 200M Series video card. The standard resolution of the LCD is 1280x800x32. Under Breezy, after I installed, I used the proprietary fglrx drivers from ATI and that worked great.
I also ran into this problem..
I believe is has something to do with the issues from bug #39232
