Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

The attached tar file contains a file with a name that makes nautilus crash. The filename contains two UTF8 3-byte sequences which I think represent a pair ot Line Separator characters, but it's nto as simple as that because shortening the filename makes the problem go away, as does replacing the odd characters.

The tar file also contains a small HTML file. The page title is the same as the filename that crashes nautilus. When I view this document in nautilus, my gnome-panel crashes repeatedly until I swithch away from that page. I think gnome-panel is crashing trying to diaplay the title in the Window List applet.

Note that this just might have the same root cause as bug #28640, but I'm not sure. I can see the file name OK in a gnome-terminal shell.

The crash is apparent in both Ubuntu 8.10 and in 9.04 beta.

Correction:
The html file crashes the gnome-panel when I view the file in FIREFOX, not nautilus as I wrote.
Sorry.

It looks like the crash is in file-roller
