Bug Description

I would like to install Nanoengineer-1, an open source - third party software on Ubuntu. I would like to see Nanoengineer-1 offered in the software repositories.

Nanoengineer-1 is available by requesting an account form <email address hidden>

http://nanoengineer-1.com/content/

The software has been listed at SourceForge, but does not appear available for download.

My notes on my installation attempts are here:

There are a number of obsolete dependant packages required, that can not be loaded with Synaptic Package Manager. This requires the user to download the packages and use terminal to unzip, change permissions, make, and install. In Ubuntu, I have made it as far as adding the qt4 package to the path to install PyQt (unsucessfully).

I would like to see Nanoengineer-1 maintained and upgraded by the open source community - and grow into it's full potential - adding nanoscale circuit modeling features.

This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

Changed in ubuntu:
