Huawei USB E169 HSPDA modem not working

Bug Description

I upgraded my Ubuntu Desktop from Intrepid to Jaunty beta and also created Jaunty beta on

my USB thumb drive today. In both Jaunty installation, the NetworkManager cannot detect, connect or

disconnect my Huawei USB E169 HSPDA modem. Wired and wireless connection works fine. I am using a

HP Pavilion dv1000. The Huawei E169 modem works fine in Ubuntu 8.10

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 357025

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Now with Karmic this bug is obsolete, I'm sorry that i didn't give any furhter information. I found a workaround by using UMTSmon 0.8. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I'm running lucid beta2 and just bought this device (branded as Vodafone K3765).
Network manager does not detect it.

To fix this problem I just needed to install the package "usb-modeswitch-data"
