Bug Description

The gnome-preferred-applications dialog does not set x-www-browser, which Thunderbird uses to choose the webbrowser to launch when clicking a link in an email.
Running update-alternatives --config x-www-browser manually and choosing the correct browser works.

The preferred app is an user applications so it'll not set the alternatives is a system admin setting. Thunderbird should probably use the desktop browser, feel free to open a bug for it, I'm rejecting that one since that's not a bug but a feature request which is not going to be changed
