Bug Description

since the upgrade from 8.10 to jaunty I've not been able to connect to the internet after resuming from hibernate.

In 8.10 I also had this problem with network-manager. In the end I had to deinstall and install wicd.

Since the upgrade this trick has not work. Worse, with wicd I'm not able to reboot.

I've now removed wicd and reinstalled network-manager-gnome. This fixes the problem about not being able to reboot.

Network-manager correctly identifies my wireless network from cold boot. However, from hibernate, it doesn't connect to my wireless network automatically. It still correctly identifies that my wireless network connection exists, but does nothing when choosing the option.

1. please reboot, reproduce and attach your complete syslog taken after that.
2. please attach the output of lshal, lsusb and lspci
3. try to install linux-backport-modules-jaunty (experimental wireless drivers) and see if that helps.

since filing this bug I have gone back to my Intrepid backup and redid the upgrade again. This time it seems the latest updates have fixed the hibernate issues with wicd. However the hibernate issues with network-manager remain.

enclosed are the syslog, lshal, lsusb and lspci

I must be daft - I've added backports to my software sources. However in synaptic I can't find anything related to "experimental wireless drivers" - what's the package that I should be trying?

2b.Hibernate - OK
2c.Resume - screen froze.
2d.Hard reboot

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release the Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

happy to close this - hibernate and resume issues were confirmed as a jaunty kernel problem - I've since moved to 2.6.30 and these issues have been resolved.
