Jaunty: mplayer crashes X

When I try to run a video (from the terminal, or from firefox directly), it makes X crash.

When trying to collect information for this bug, sometimes it failed to crash, but it normally does.

I'm using a fully patched box (jaunty) not using any xorg.conf (intel 865G).

By the way, mplayer is trying to use vo xv as its video output.

This bug affects me, to. I am also using an intel card (it happens, for example, when trying to click on any GUI not belonging to mplayer.

Sorry, two things I forgot to mention:

1) wouldn't this bug belong to the intel driver, instead? I have another laptop with ati, and it is really solid. There is a bug that is marked as solved, but (with a up-to-date installation of jaunty) it still happens for me.

2) For me, it happens when using XVideo as output, exactly as Edmundo mentioned

I followed the suggestion in bug 347527, by installing the edge drivers 2.7.1 in

The problem seems to be solved.

I've tried recreating this bug with Precise and was unable to, given the information you've provided. Please either a) upgrade and test or b) increase the verbosity of the steps to recreate it so we can try again.
