Bug Description

I've got a custom location for screenshots (~/Documents/screenshots/) which I've set in Shutter's preferences, however each time I open the app it saves the screenshots in ~ and I find the preference reset.

Let me know if there are pertinent logs I can send in :)

Could you please check if the "Save settings when exiting" option is enabled, see :

Need to make sure that it's enabled by default too (thought it was)

Yes, it is enabled, although I had not noticed that option before.

Can you try running Shutter from the terminal then? Hopefully it provides
useful into when failing to save.

Might be the same reason as in this question:
https://answers.launchpad.net/shutter/+question/72118

I've added two additional signal handlers (INT and TERM) to shutdown Shutter carefully (e.g. save the settings and session) when we catch one of the above signals.
