Latest upgrade , 7 April 2009 kubutnu 9.04

well now vlc , kmplayer ffplay mm and others RESTARTS X ....

lucklyh i have find out a workaround for my computer

i have installed rt kernel

sudo apt-get install linux-image-rt linux-restricted-modules-rt

at the boot you have to select it and i can play my video xD

Hard to say without seeing your lspci -vvnn and Xorg.0.log (always, always attach these when reporting an X bug), but sounds like a dupe of a known issue.

i got the problem with server kernel but with generic and the old rt kernel it works fine now
