Bug Description

Binary package hint: vlc

If you have installed k/ubuntu-restricted-extras it is not possible to install the build dependencies of vlc with "sudo apt-get build-dep vlc".

$ sudo apt-get build-dep vlc
[sudo] password for tim:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Build-dependencies for vlc could not be satisfied.

The stripped libraries are preventing the standard libraries from installation so it doesn't work. I guess the easiest solution for this is to use stripped libraries as an alternative for compiling so dependency build should still be possible or to add a block that while running build-dep the stripped libraries are removed instead of posting an uninformative message.

I am using current Jaunty and had tested this issue also with a current daily live cd. It also effects Kubuntu.
