only mono sound 82801H jaunty

Bug Description

Since the fresh install of Jaunty Jackalope on my laptop, I only get mono sound and only the left speaker seem to work - pavucontrol confirms the issue. Then I added 'themuso' PPA for PulseAudio 0.9.15 and even tough I love the new features, I still get the same problem - no stereo sound.

And this is quite annoying when I'm trying to play a game and have to listen with my "left ear" or that the music I try to play isn't as loud as is it could and should be.

So it is perhaps the linux-module for the soundcard, ALSA or PulseAudio.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in pulseaudio.

For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

The sound is definitely from the harddrive, not from the speakers. So it has to be a bug in the kernel, right?
But I'm unable to found a package to relate to the kernel (linux-kernel, linux-image, linux-kernel-generic).

Could you please run the following in a terminal: "apport-collect -p alsa-base 355375"

Could you also try the latest live CD for the karmic development version, http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/daily-live/current. You do not need to install it, just see if sound is in stereo for the live session.

Thanks.
