[UNR 9.04 Beta] Unable to select mirror when installing

Background: in Australia we get a certain amount of data as part of our monthly subscriptions to the Internet. For example, I have an ADSL2 plan which includes 25 GB data per month. When that allowance is used up, the speed of the connection is "shaped," which means it is slowed to thee quivalent of a 56k dial-up modem connection - very slow!

I am installing the Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 Beta image onto an ASUS Eee PC 901. I am able to get the LiveCD environment working, and then select the mirror that my ISP, Internode, runs. This mirror is excluded from the slow-down once I have used up all my data for the month, so I can download at ADSL2 speeds from this mirror.

When I try to install the system, no matter if I have already changed the mirror in Software Sources, the Ubiquity installer only looks at the main Ubuntu mirror. Additionally, it insists on installing all the Language Packs. Why? At 56k dial-up speeds it takes about 90 minutes to download them. When I "skipped" them, it caused all sorts of issues, complaining about incorrect language support, so now I am reinstalling.

Can the installer be altered to enable choosing of the appropriate mirror, before it "scans the mirror" and "installs language packs"?
