Bug Description

Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper

nspluginwrapper: 1.2.2-0ubuntu2
firefox-3.0: 3.0.8+nobinonly-0ubuntu2
Flash: Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22

(64bit)
In jaunty I'm seeing firefox hang for 10s of seconds with no redraw and no GUI interaction at all, this time when it happened I had a tail -f on .xsession-errors and found these:

*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NPP_Destroy() wait for reply: Message timeout
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NPObject 0xeeacbb0 is no longer valid!

The hang was just after closing a tab with flash video in it (which may itself have been hung on audio?)

Same issue there :
- Flash always hangs after 10 seconds.

does this only happen with nspluginwrapper? Maybe you can reproduce that with native flash install as well?

I'd like to distinguish the behavior Julien reports from my original report.
The error I see only happens some of the time - most of the time Flash plays videos fine
and doesn't hang; however on Jaunty I'm seeing these occasional hangs where Firefox itself
hangs (no response to the tabs for example) for prolonged periods of time - and the error
I reported was captured during one of those hangs. If Julien is seeing a Flash hang after 10
seconds that's separate.

(This is with nspluginwrapper - I tend to find it's a trade off; flash dies under nspluginwrapper from
time to time and doesn't come back until I restart Firefox, but Flash normally doesn't kill firefox
when run via nspluginwrapper which sometimes happens if I run it natively - I'm on 64bit)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu version (10.04). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #>, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
