Bug Description
i am using ubuntu8.10
a sound icon having 'not working' red cross sign appears and sound doesn't play at all
and not playing right from installation
i have tried many things like different drivers and gstreamer but it is not fixed
my sound card is ATI IXP SB400 AC 97 and supported by ALSA but it hasn't worked as well

For Ubuntu 8.04 Linux ATI Radeon Drivers.
Here you go follow just like it says to or it will not work right. ( and no terminal is not terminal)
1. Install Linux, if you have not already done so. (if you have already installed drivers for your card in Linux and they are not working see step #11 on the How-To.) support. amd.com/ us/gpudownload/ Pages/index. aspx and download drivers to your desktop. (make sure to make the file executable.) Admin/Hardware drivers and enable card do not restart at this time. Accessories/ Terminal
2. Go to http://
3. On desktop text upper left side go to /System/
4. On desktop text upper left side go to /Applications/
5. Type -----------> cd Desktop
6. Type -----------> dir
7. Type -----------> sudo ./ATI_DRIVER
8. Install driver
9. Wait a long time
10.Restart

11.On desktop text upper left side go to /Applications/ Accessories/ Terminal

go back to step #2.
