Hi
Thanks for the mail.
The directory did not exist, when I installed mySQL. Probably the problem appeared because I had tried installing mySQL earlier and then had deinstalled it again. Some config files must have stayed on my system, so when trying to reinstall and configure mySQL these old config files caused the installation to fail.
I manually generated the directory /etc/mysql/conf.d/ and the file old_passwords.cnf (empty file). Then I again tried installing mySQL, it worked. Then I reconfigured mySQL (sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.0). After restarting Apache2 mySQL worked properly.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Antje
