Adept notifier should have "check now" option

Bug Description

There is currently no way to force Adept notifier to perform check.
This might be a problem if user has only temporary internet connection or wants to perform check as some vulnerability is released, etc.

Option "Check now" should be added to Adept notifier system tray icon.

I don't understand. "Check Now", check what?

It would check for new updates immediately (and not in regular intervals as today).

Exactly. I should be more precise :)

This would require root privileges for some helper program (that needs to be implemented yet). I suspect it is too late now (considering we are in feature freeze). I will think about it. Either way it will have to prompt for password.

Could this maybe be done by adding an option to adept_notifier that when you right click on it it run kdesu adept_updater which seems to do an apt-get update anyway, similar to how it starts it just now when it thinks there are updates?

This would be my second wish - to have option to run update. Currently it is done by double clicking on icon, but for inexperienced user it is not obvious.

Ideally there should be popup menu opened when user clicks on notifier icon, with two options:
- Check for updates now
- Update system

The first option forces update now, instead of waiting for given interval (already implemented). Second runs adept_updater (also already implemented). The only change is user interface.

No, notifier never checks updates or anything by itself. Adding immediate update check would require root privileges, see my comment above. Not doable in freeze. The UI change to add update system to context menu is doable though. As for double-click, i thought it was single click. It definitely is here.

This report is moot now, since as requested in an UI review, the notifier is now invisible when no updates are available. If you believe manual check should be possible through GUI, open a new wishlist. It requires either making adept updater available in the menu or making the notifier always visible.

The notifier need not have a 'update now' option if the rest of the system takes care of running 'apt-get update' once in a while. As that seems to have been sorted recently, the notifier don't need a 'check now' option IMHO.
