do-release-upgrade to jaunty failed on python2.6-minimal

Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Attempting to do an upgrade from intrepid to jaunty via do-release-upgrade -d failed; python2.6-minimal fails to install with the following message:

  Setting up python2.6-minimal (2.6.1-1ubuntu8) ...
  Linking and byte-compiling packages for runtime python2.6...
  pycentral: pycentral rtinstall: installed runtime python2.6 not found
  pycentral rtinstall: installed runtime python2.6 not found
  dpkg: error processing python2.6-minimal (--configure):
   subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
  Errors were encountered while processing:
   python2.6-minimal
  E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
