On a side note for some reason my printer boots on start up. Is there a way to disable this without editing a start-up file?

Here is output of some commands i ran:
gnomefreak@Development:~$ lsmod | grep usb
usblp 20224 0
usbhid 42336 0
usb_storage 81984 0

I has to stop the following command as it just sat there for 20 minutes
gnomefreak@Development:~$ tail -f /var/log/messages
