Bug Description
Binary package hint: thunderbird
When trying to send a mail via thunderbird, independent of the outgoing server, the progress is still active but nothing happens. The status text freezes with "Connected to <server>" and the windows stays blocked.
Possibly this problem could be introduced with the last Thunderbird update since before that it worked. I've only got the Enigmail extension installed but disableing make no difference. In Thunderbird's error console only this error is reported:
Fehler: [Exception... "'JavaScript component does not have a method named: "NotifyComposeB

Found the real problem:
I used a setup with my Desktop stretched over 2 screens(as one X-display), where I only have my apps running maximized on the left part of this display. While sending a mail I always have to agree that the server uses a SSL certificate that is not issued to the connected URL. This dialog does not appear in the center of the main Thunderbird windows, as it would be best. It is displayed on the left hand of the right part of the display. As I am only using the left screen, it haven't seen it.
